Life and Legacy of Spurgeon Lectures

|

A 9 part lecture series taught by Phil Johnson

This 9-part lecture series by Phil Johnson offers a rich introduction to the life, ministry, theology, and enduring influence of Charles Haddon Spurgeon. Across the series, Johnson presents Spurgeon not merely as a famous Victorian preacher, but as a deeply biblical pastor, evangelist, writer, and defender of the faith whose ministry still speaks powerfully to the church today. The playlist, hosted by Kootenai Church, includes nine videos under the title “Conference on Spurgeon.”

Phil Johnson is especially well suited to teach on Spurgeon. He is the executive director of Grace to You, has long been associated with John MacArthur’s ministry, and serves as an elder and pastor at Grace Community Church. He also founded several influential Christian websites, including The Spurgeon Archive, one of the original major online collections devoted to Spurgeon’s sermons and writings. That archive later became part of the broader Spurgeon.org effort when it was donated by Johnson and combined with Midwestern Seminary’s Spurgeon Center resources. This long-standing work of preserving and sharing Spurgeon’s legacy gives Johnson’s lectures a unique depth, combining historical knowledge, theological appreciation, and personal familiarity with Spurgeon’s vast body of work.
